UEFA President Michel Platini insists that he has no qualms about Real Madrid’s decision to break the world transfer record by spending close to 100 million euros for Gareth Bale.
“I have no problems if the club who is buying has the sufficient funds to be able to pay,” Platini explained. “If Real Madrid were to buy three players valued at 30 million euros each, there wouldn’t be such a fuss”.
“But, is Bale worth 100 million? That’s another issue up for debate,” the UEFA President continued.
Platini is eager to uphold UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations which prevent clubs from spending more money than they earn.
